Hello Client, our server NL4 where your domain domains.com is hosted are more unstable than it should be. The raid is still having issues after rebuild. So we are currently moving NL4 to new hardware since it appears the raid card is going bad.

The new server are currently setting up and mounted it will be installed as soon as possible, there some chance that the old server come back online but please try to don't do major modification on your site if the server came back as those will be lost.

Backup will be restored from today as we started newest backup as soon the server comeback earlier, this is a emergency maintenance and free month will be applied to every account affected simply open a ticket to billing to request the free month before September 30th

Users on NL4 alpha are probably seeing issues with their sites at the moment. This is because our admins had to start an unscheduled fsck of the server. Once the system finishes this check — in roughly 30 to 90 minutes — all sites on the server should recover.

We’ll let you know what’s going on as things progress!

Update – Sept 1th 14h00pm: Filesystem check found inconsistencies and is repairing them, so while this will not take days and days and days, it may be a few more hours. We apologize for the inconvenience, and will get you back up and running as soon as possible.

Update – Sept 1th 17h45pm: Unfortunately, this is taking longer than expected to complete. There’s not much else we can do until the fsck is complete so that data doesn’t get corrupted. We will update this post as soon as it is finished.

Update – Sept 02th 9h00am: Well, we started the rebuild currently, cPanel will be installed and site restored and we hope to get it setup by the afternoon.

Update – Sept 02th 13h00pm: Hello, as we talk the service as been restored, we will announce a small maintenance windows to within a couple of week for this servers since it might return on read only mode.

The problem still exist with the new motherboard of the same vendor, on moment of writing this post our supplier
is on his way with a new motherboard of another vendor for this server.

This means the server will be offline once again for 30 till 40 minutes.

We know this is not fine, but we want stable host servers for our customers, we hope you understand that.
We will do our best to reduce the downtime of the virtual private servers.

Hi Client,

There seems to be some issues with Global harddrive and we think we should replace this disk asap. As the drive is going into read-only mode frequently.

The machine crashed after the raid array became degraded and upon rebooting the file-system went into read-only mode so we will need to take the machine down into single user mode to run an fsck (file-system check).

Unfortunatly since the issue is recurring, we prefer to remplace directly the hdd!
Here are the errors being displayed in message log

As many of you have noticed, our NL4 server, alpha, has not been very stable for the last week. All attempts to try and resolve the issues have been slow due to the integrity of data being stored on this server. The servers RAID configuration is acting up and thinks that one of the drives is double degraded. We are in the process of moving data to new hardware, but this issue is delaying the process. Because of this, there may be some intermittent issues until we’re able to get everything fully removed from the problem hardware.

Tomorrow our team will move up the servers again to a new tested hardware to be sure everything work properly, in this case nameservers and hostname will be completely different alpha will not be used anymore as nameserver and udns.in not used anymore, email with new details will be sent to every NL4 users with those details once the migration as been completed.

Domain purchased with us, will be automatically get there nameserver updated so you won't need to update it, however every other domain not registered with us will need to be modified.

Maintenance windows as usually during offpeak hour: 11h PM to 12h PM don't try to modify or edit anything during the maintenance because it will not be available later.

Hopefully the new server will be stable and recurring issue you are experiencing fixed.

Changing file/folder permissions

All files on UNIX (including Linux and other UNIX variants) machines have access permissions. In this way the operating system knows how to deal with requests to access the files. There are three types of access:

Read - Denoted as r, files with read access can be displayed to the user.

Write - Denoted as w, files with write access can be modified by the user.

Execute - Denoted as x, files with execute access can be executed as programs by the user.

Access types are set for three types of user group:

User - The owner of the file.

Group - Other files which are in the same folder or group.

World - Everyone else.

The web server needs to be able to read your web pages in order to be able to display them in a browser. The following permissions need to be set in order for your web site to function properly.

All HTML files and images need to be readable by others. The value for this is 644 (readable by User, Group and World, and writable by User). It is set automatically when you upload files.

All folders need to be executable by others. The value for this is 755 (readable by User, Group and World, writable by User, executable by User, Group and World). It is set automatically when you create a folder.

All CGI files (all files in the cgi-bin folder) need to be executable by other. The value for this is 755 (readable by User, Group, and World, writable by User, executable by User, Group, and World). It is not set automatically when you upload files. You need to change file permissions manually.

It is important that none of your files or folders is writable by anyone else. Any file or folder which is writable by others can be erased by them.

To change file or folder permissions:

Step 1: Open your File Manager and navigate to the file or folder that you need to change.

Step 2: Click on the name of the file or folder.

Step 3: Click on the Change Permissions link in the top menu of the File Manager page.

Step 4: Click on as many check boxes as you require to create the right permission. The permission numbers underneath the check boxes will update automatically.

Step 5: Click on the Change Permissions button when you are ready. The new permission level is saved and the display updated to show the modified file.
